Summary update report on our 2011 Summer camp held during 1st to 3rd June 2011

The first camp of the season saw the Paulin ground bathed in sunshine as well as covered in cones, nets, catch it ramps, and a whole host of cricket playing and training equipment that the week was sure to be a action packed, fun filled, skill development week…. All of the skills that were taught during the week were in various forms of games alongside the use of nets, bowling machine & the all weather training pitch. The aim of the camps is for boys and girls of all ages to have fun amongst there peers as well as giving them the perfect opportunity to improve their games with a particular focus on the Themes for the week which were:

  • Batting: hitting off the front foot with a stable base
  • Fielding, Catching: stable base with soft hands
  • Fielding, Underarm throwing: Allowing the head to lead & stepping and pointing at the target
  • Fielding, Split Step :Encouraging all players to respond with this technique prior to contact being made with the ball or it coming in the players direction

At the conclusion of the week it was noticed by all the WHCC coaches that there was lots of fun being had and significant improvement by all of the players to understand the new skills that were being taught and were able to put them into practice. Many thanks to all the boys and girls who attended as well as our coaches, Chris,Charles,Jordon,Mark,Michelle & Helen for her help in the Mornings. Stay on your toes ready for the next summer camps in July and be alert to the next coaching Themes…
